Last night when I came home from work, Bjorn was really stuffed up and did not feel very well at all, poor guy, he is so helpless and cannot tell us what is uncomfortable for him, but Laura gave him some saline in his nostrils every couple of hours and that seemed to help him breathe a little easier. Last night we made our first trip as a family to Wal-mart, we had to pick up some filters for the de-humidifier and a few odds and ends for Bjorn. We had him all bundled up in the chair with his cover and he was so cute in his reindeer hat : - ) .

He slept pretty good last night considering he has a cold, and today when I talked to Laura on the phone she said he was enjoying his rocker (see pic) and was doing much better, so I hope the cold passes quickly.

First day back to work

Today was my first day at work since Björn was born and it was tough going to work thinking I would not see him until I came home late at night. Work was ok, everyone was happy to see me back and a lot of people wanted to see pictures and asked how Laura and Björn was doing. Larsja, our HR specialist, who was retiring today had made this beautiful quilt and hat for Björn, it was such a surprise, and it is so neat. I will take a picture of it sometime soon and post on here. Laura spent the day with Björn and took some new pictures, here's one of them, isn't he cute :- ). He is wearing an outfit his Farmor bought him before he was born, I wonder if he will grow up to like Elephants? No matter what he will like, I will always support him and love him, I think that is probably the most important thing about being a parent.

Bjorns first Doctor's Visit

Today was his first visit to the Doctor, we have a wonderful Doctor in Lewiston, she seemed really nice and very caring. She said Björn was in perfect health and he had regained the weight he lost after he was born. All babies lose a few ounces when they are first born. I also had his height wrong, he was not 48cm tall, I calculated and 1 inch = 2.54 cm, so Björn is 55.2 cm tall! A lot taller than his Pappa was : - ) . Right now we are back home and Björn is sleeping after having had a little snack. I have to go to class tonight, and I will really miss spending those hours with him, hopefully will he be awake for a little while when I get home tonight.

Day 3 of being home

This is the beginning of day 3 home with Bjorn, and he has adjusted really well as have Laura and I. He does wake up every 2 hours to feed during the night and Laura is doing great, she has not complained once about waking up so often and the lack of sleep, hopefully can she take a nap today when he is napping. I have become used to changing diapers now, not a pro yet, but getting better at it. He peed a lot this morning, filled the whole diaper, hehehehe, and he has only peed on me twice since I have been changing his diaper ;- ) .

Yesterday Mormor came by with some food for Mamma and Pappa, which was a nice treat! It really helps having family close by to help with food, and other items you need, it is not easy getting out when you have a little newborn at home. Last night his cousin Shauni dropped off some brownies for Mamma and Pappa, yummo, and later his Aunty Karen and cousin Mitchell visited and brought all kinds of great items for Mamma and Pappa, toilet paper, cleaning items, diapers, all the things you need for a little one and for the household : - ) .

I continue to speak Swedish to him, but when someone asks me a question, I sometimes answer them in Swedish instead of English, hehehe, but I am sure I will get used to switching languages more quickly : - )

Day 4 - Bjorn is home

Today we got to take Bjorn home, we started the process this morning after a very long, sleepless night, Bjorn was wide awake between 23 and 03:30 this morning, he did not want to sleep and kept crying the whole time. Laura and I were both exhausted this morning after a couple of hours of sleep, but this is what having a baby is all about ; - ) . At 11 this morning we got him in his car seat after all check ups and were on our way home. It was so nice bringing him home in his own clothes, and to set him up in his own bed to nap. The 3 of us took a 1 hr nap this afternoon on our bed, our first nap together as a family : - ) . He has already eaten 2 times since we came home and is currently sleeping. We're going to try to keep him awake a few hours after he eats the next time and see if we cannot change his internal clock to sleep a few hours during the night instead of staying awake, we'll keep you posted : - ) .

Day 3

This is day 3 of Bjorn's life : ) , well day 3 out of his mamma's womb that is. He had a very good day today, he has started eating a lot better and a lot more, and he does not fall asleep after he takes a few sips. He has pooped several times today, hehehe, once on his mamma as she was changing his diaper, hehehe. Changing diapers is becoming easier each time, but he still does not like it, but he is crying a little less each time. I think it will be even easier once his "security" clamp is removed from his belly button (not the belly itself, but the little cord that is still left). The security tag is something the hospital uses to make sure no person can take him away, which makes us both feel safe.

I try to speak Swedish to him, but it is hard switching back and forth, but I need to keep trying so he can hear it and later start speaking it : - )

Bjorn Nicklas D. Sandberg

Well, our little guy is here and he has been with us now for over 24 hours and is doing so well, he has been a little fuzzy about eating, he would rather sleep, hehehehe. The nurses say most babies will do this for the first 2 days then it gets easier for him to eat. Laura is doing really well, the scar is healing nicely and she has been up and moved around twice since last night. Bjorn is currently taking a nap as is Laura, Pappa Nicke was fortunate enough to get some sleep over night while Mamma was feeding Bjorn and snuggling him, I am sure there will be few nights we get that opportunity as he gets older : - ) .

Today we hope we get some visitors from our friends who live nearby and I am sure a lot more pictures will be taken, in the meantime, here's a picture from yesterday of him and Laura.

No baby yet...

Well, we went in today hoping that the Doctor would induce labor or schedule a c-section (kejsarsnitt), but no go. She measured the baby again and he is about 7 lbs 14 oz, which is 3,650 grams, so still under 4 000 grams. WE were both very disappointed as we were mentally prepared to go to the hospital and start the delivery process, but she did schedule a c-section for this coming week, possibly already on Monday Jan 15, so keep your fingers crossed that the baby wants to come out on its own before then : - ) .

It still feels very unreal that we're going to be parents, but so exciting at the same time, I just hope I can be a good Pappa to the little man : - ) .
